Persuasion A - Two Steps To Easier Breathing
Originally released in 1988, this studio recording of Simon Fell’s then-current small group Persuasion features the group augmented by two guest – Charles Wharf on reeds and Keith Tippett on piano. At the time this group (in both quartet and sextet formats) had been working extensively on a repertoire of quasi-serial bebop heads, and this recording captures them on fine form (albeit with a somewhat 80s bass sound!). Some of the pieces on this record, in particular the up-tempo Two Bothas Bad, were to become staples of Simon Fell’s live performances for the next twenty years…

"What makes this music great (yes, great) is its tremendous emotional content.....this album should not be missed.
