Liondialer - Liondialer LIVE!
Liondialer are Danny Saul and Greg Haines (who released the wondrous
Slumber Tides on Miasmah a coupe of years back). The cover shows them
facing off in an anti-rock fashion across a large table behind laptops.
To these electronics they add some sombre strings – Haines’s cello,
Saul’s guitar – producing pulsating drones, bursts of noise and brief
dreamlike flashes of near-melody. The sounds float in and out of a layer
of venue noise – clinks of glasses, coughing, that "have they started
yet?" banter...someone even appears to be playing pool during 'Bay
Horse'. So why have they done it?
Reviews
You have to focus hard on the music. Perhaps that’s the point. It only gets confrontational towards the end – 'Music Box' rasps with a frustrated static room-clearing "fuck you". I pity the band that had to follow this. LIVE! is a fitting document of a most contrary twosome. (Mapsadaisical)
