Simon H. Fell - Composition No. 12.5
Originally released in 1990 on LP and cassette (and reissued in 1999 on CD), this medium-scale composition for improvisers was the first of Simon Fell’s ‘fourth stream’ pieces to attract significant critical attention. A chamber-size ensemble augmented by electronics works its way through an extensive series of variations of a surprisingly catchy bebop head. Featured soloists include Paul Hession, Alan Wilkinson, Martin Jones, Pete Minns and Charles Wharf.
